Legal Assistance

Nonprofit civil legal aid program with an office in Covington serving St. Tammany and Washington parishes. Handles civil matters including evictions and housing, family law, domestic violence, disability and benefits claims, consumer debt and Chapter 7 bankruptcy, heir property, and criminal record expungements. There is no charge for services.

Who it's for

Family income generally at or below 125% of the federal poverty level. Elderly clients and victims of domestic violence are exempt from the income requirement. Does not represent prisoners. Emergencies include having a court date or being served with court pleadings.
