FITAP and Kinship Care Subsidy Program (Louisiana Department of Health)

FITAP (Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program) provides temporary monthly cash assistance to very low-income families with children. The Kinship Care Subsidy Program provides a monthly cash payment to relatives raising a child. Both programs moved from DCFS to the Louisiana Department of Health's Office of Economic Stability in 2025 and are applied for through the same channels as SNAP.

Louisiana families with children who meet strict income and resource limits. KCSP is for qualifying relatives caring for a child.
