Southeastern Police Urge Vigilance After Attempted Carjacking Near Hammond Campus

HAMMOND, La. — Southeastern Louisiana University police are urging students and residents to remain alert following an attempted carjacking reported near the university’s Hammond campus Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was reported around 1:45 p.m. on September 22 near the intersection of North Oak Street and Whitmar Drive, an area just north of Southeastern Louisiana University. University police issued an alert to the campus community shortly after the incident.

An attempted carjacking was reported near North Oak Street and Whitmar Drive. Following the incident, the person suspected of being involved reportedly fled the area in an unknown direction.

Students walking to vehicles or leaving campus are encouraged to remain aware of what is happening around them, particularly when entering or exiting parked vehicles.
