NEW ORLEANS — Emergency crews responded Monday afternoon after part of a building collapsed near the intersection of Paris Avenue and Gentilly Boulevard in New Orleans.
The partial collapse prompted a response from emergency personnel as officials worked to determine whether the remaining portions of the structure were stable.
Images from the scene showed significant damage, with portions of the building having fallen away.
A building inspector was called to evaluate the property amid concerns that additional sections of the structure could potentially collapse.
The location created an additional concern because a gas station sits immediately next to the damaged building. Entergy personnel were also called to the scene as officials worked to secure the area and address potential utility hazards.
As of Monday afternoon, authorities had not confirmed any injuries.
Officials were also working to determine whether anyone was inside the building when the collapse occurred.
The cause of the collapse has not yet been released.
Crews remained at the scene Monday afternoon while inspectors evaluated the structure and determined whether the surrounding area was safe.
