Pastor Tony Spell Defends Actions Following Arrest, Says He “Fulfilled Scripture”

Pastor Tony Spell is once again making headlines after being arrested on a felony second-degree battery charge following an altercation with a neighbor near Life Tabernacle Church in Central.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on June 23 and was captured on surveillance video. Authorities allege Spell crossed the road and physically attacked a neighbor during the confrontation. He was later arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison before bonding out.

Just one day after his arrest, Spell addressed members of his congregation and the media, defending his actions and offering his own interpretation of what occurred.

During his remarks, Spell reportedly told church members, “I fulfilled the scripture. I laid hands on the sick,” referencing the confrontation that led to his arrest. He also described the ongoing dispute with neighbors as a form of “domestic terrorism” directed at his church, family, and congregation.

Meanwhile, the family involved in the dispute has released additional video footage of the incident. The newly released video appears to show the confrontation unfolding in front of the neighboring property and has added to the public debate surrounding the case.

Spell has maintained that the full story has not yet been told and stated that the matter will ultimately be resolved through the court system.

The case remains active, and no verdict has been reached. Spell is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
