22 Pounds Of Cocaine Seized During I-10 Traffic Stop In Mississippi

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. — A traffic stop along Interstate 10 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast led to the seizure of approximately 22 pounds of cocaine and more than $10,000 in suspected drug money.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped a vehicle traveling along I-10 as it made its way from Houston, Texas, to Clearwater, Florida.

During the stop, a U.S. Border Patrol K9 alerted authorities to the vehicle.

A subsequent search reportedly uncovered approximately 22 pounds of cocaine concealed inside a duffel bag, along with more than $10,000 in cash that investigators believe was connected to illegal drug activity.

Two people were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The bust highlights the continued use of Interstate 10 as a major transportation corridor stretching across the Gulf Coast and connecting cities from Texas through Louisiana and Mississippi before continuing into Florida.

Authorities have not announced whether the investigation could result in additional arrests or charges.
