Gulf Coast Landlord Convicted of Sexually Assaulting Pregnant Tenant

BILOXI, Miss. — A Gulf Coast landlord has been convicted of sexual battery after prosecutors said he assaulted a pregnant woman who rented commercial space from him for her business.

Tam John Trieu, 65, of D’Iberville, was found guilty by a jury in a case involving a tenant who operated a beauty supply business.

According to prosecutors, surveillance cameras captured the assault, providing evidence used in the criminal case.

The conviction brings the case closer to its conclusion, but Trieu has not yet been sentenced.

His sentencing is scheduled for November 16, when he could face up to 30 years in prison.

The case raises serious concerns about the vulnerability of tenants when someone who controls their business property abuses that position.
