SLIDELL, La. — A disturbing investigation involving the alleged sexual abuse of children in St. Tammany Parish has resulted in the arrests of a Slidell woman and a Mississippi man, with authorities alleging that abuse involving at least two children was recorded and shared electronically.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office announced Tuesday, October 27, that Lacy Marie Amedio, 47, of Slidell, was arrested October 23 on 21 felony counts, including two counts of first-degree rape involving a child younger than 13.

Investigators say the case began after a private citizen submitted a tip to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children concerning images and videos allegedly involving the sexual abuse of a toddler in St. Tammany Parish.

Authorities subsequently identified Amedio and the children involved.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, investigators determined that Amedio allegedly sexually abused at least one child and produced abusive material involving that child and at least one other.

Investigators further allege that Amedio electronically distributed the material to Corey Dewayne Monk, 36, of Walnut Grove, Mississippi.

Authorities say Monk requested that Amedio commit sexual acts involving a child and produce the material.

Monk was arrested October 26 at his Mississippi residence on a Louisiana warrant. He faces charges of being a principal to first-degree rape of a child younger than 13 and a principal to a child sexual abuse material offense.

Amedio’s charges include two counts of first-degree rape, four counts of sexual battery, six counts of indecent behavior with juveniles, six counts of producing child sexual abuse material and three counts of possession.

Amedio’s bond was set at $2 million. Bond information for Monk was not immediately available.

The investigation involved the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Slidell Police Department, Mississippi Attorney General’s Office and Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.

Both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
