Washington Parish Family Searching For Answers After Sudden Death Of 4-Year-Old Daughter

A Washington Parish family is searching for answers following the unexpected death of their 4-year-old daughter, Aubrielle “Aubri” Alice Williams, who died earlier this month after being found unresponsive at her home.

Aubri died on September 4 in Washington Parish. Her mother found her unresponsive and called 911, while her father attempted CPR. According to Aubri’s father, the family was told an ambulance was approximately 25 minutes away. Rather than wait, they placed Aubri in their vehicle and drove toward Franklinton to meet the ambulance. The family says they met emergency medical personnel along Highway 25.

Aubri’s father also clarified that deputies did not initially respond to the family’s home and did not find Aubri there. He said deputies came to the residence later to execute a search warrant.

The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation following her death, while the coroner’s office took custody of her body to determine what happened.

Authorities have said there were no immediate indications of foul play. The exact cause of Aubri’s death, however, has not yet been publicly determined.

For her family, that has left an agonizing question unanswered: What happened to their little girl?

Aubri’s parents have since spoken publicly about health and behavioral changes they say they noticed in their daughter during the roughly year and a half before her death. According to the family, those changes included rapid unexplained weight gain, developmental regression and changes in her mood and behavior.

Her parents say they repeatedly sought medical help and additional testing while trying to determine what was causing the changes.

The family says Aubri had been placed on a lengthy waiting list for further behavioral evaluation, with the anticipated wait reportedly stretching between 12 and 18 months. Her parents say they had also pushed for additional medical testing as they continued searching for an explanation.

On the night before her death, however, the family says there was nothing that indicated an emergency was about to happen.

Aubri went to sleep, and her parents later reviewed footage from a baby monitor that reportedly showed her briefly waking early the following morning before going back to sleep.

Hours later, she could not be awakened.

Aubri was a twin and is remembered by her family as an energetic little girl who loved music, dancing, dressing up as a princess, playing with her stuffed animals and spending time with her siblings.

Her obituary describes a little girl who was constantly smiling and laughing and who brought joy to those around her. She was born in Covington in January 2022 and lived only four years.

Aubri was laid to rest on September 12 following services in Covington.

Her death has left her family grieving while also waiting for answers that could eventually come from the investigation and autopsy findings.

For now, the circumstances surrounding the 4-year-old’s sudden death remain unresolved.
