Trump Announces Temporary Pause in Iran Military Action After Talks With Pakistani Leaders

President Donald J. Trump announced a temporary pause in planned military action against Iran, following conversations with Pakistani leaders including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir.

According to the statement, the U.S. will suspend strikes for two weeks, contingent on Iran agreeing to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump described the move as part of a “double-sided ceasefire,” saying military objectives had already been met and that both sides are close to a broader agreement.

He also said Iran has submitted a 10-point proposal, which the U.S. views as a workable foundation for negotiations. The pause is intended to allow time to finalize a long-term peace deal aimed at stabilizing the region.

If successful, the agreement could mark a significant turning point in U.S.–Iran relations and broader Middle East tensions.
