Jefferson Parish Deputy Fired After Searching Ex-Fiancée’s License Plate Thousands Of Times

A Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy has been terminated after an internal investigation found that he repeatedly used the department’s Flock camera system to search his former fiancée’s license plate.

The deputy was identified by WDSU and FOX 8 as Nathan Rome, who is also known locally as DJ “Bulletproof.”

JPSO said the investigation began after a member of the media contacted the department on August 17 with allegations that an employee had improperly accessed the camera system. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto then ordered an internal review. Investigators determined that the same license plate had been searched several thousand times over multiple years.

Rome reportedly admitted conducting the searches and said the plate belonged to his former fiancée. He told investigators that she knew about the searches and that they continued to have a friendly relationship. The woman reportedly confirmed that she was aware of the searches. She declined to pursue criminal charges and asked that Rome be allowed to keep his job.

Rome was initially suspended while the allegations were investigated. JPSO later terminated his employment, describing the personal use of the Flock system as a serious violation of department policy regardless of the circumstances.

The Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to using developing technology to protect the public while recognizing the privacy concerns surrounding automated license plate readers. Flock cameras capture license plate and vehicle information that authorized law enforcement personnel can search during investigations. The incident raises questions about how access to that information is monitored and what safeguards are in place to prevent personal use.

No criminal charges against Rome have been announced. Rome had not publicly responded to the allegations or his termination at the time of publication.
