Student’s Threats Force Lockdown At Ocean Springs High School

Ocean Springs High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a student allegedly made threats against the school.

The lockdown began at approximately 3:30 p.m. while police investigated the student and determined whether the threats presented an immediate danger to the campus.

Authorities ultimately determined that the threats were not credible, and the lockdown was lifted. All students and staff members were reported safe.

Police are continuing the investigation and will determine whether the student could face criminal charges.

Ocean Springs High School is expected to operate on its normal schedule Wednesday. The school district said an increased law-enforcement presence will be visible on campus to help students and employees feel safe and comfortable.

No additional information has been released about what the student allegedly said or how the threats were communicated.
