Man Arrested Three Times In 12 Days After Alleged Attacks On Women Was Released Twice
An Oklahoma City man with seven prior misdemeanor convictions was arrested three times in just 12 days after being accused of attacking multiple women in separate incidents.
Jeff Kufi Asare, 26, is now being held in the Oklahoma County Jail on a $75,000 bond following his third arrest, which is connected to an alleged attempted rape near Lake Hefner.
Asare’s first arrest came August 1 after several women reported inappropriate sexual contact near Northwest 23rd Street and Classen Boulevard. A judge found probable cause to hold him for felony sexual battery and indecent exposure and set his bond at $50,000. The police report also listed attempted forcible rape and forcible fondling among the reported offenses. However, the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office said investigators could not identify two of the four reported victims and were unable to contact the other two. State charges were not filed, and police instructed the jail to release Asare on August 6.
Just over five hours after his release, Asare was arrested again following two separate incidents involving women near Scissortail Park in downtown Oklahoma City. He was booked on probable-cause allegations of attempted kidnapping and felony sexual battery and received two municipal assault-and-battery citations. A judge again set his bond at $50,000. However, prosecutors recommended that the second group of allegations be handled as municipal charges rather than state felonies, and Asare was released again on August 10.
Two days later, on August 12, firefighters reportedly witnessed Asare restraining a woman along the Lake Hefner Trail and alerted Oklahoma City police. Asare was arrested for the third time and booked in connection with an attempted-rape investigation. Some jail records reportedly listed first-degree rape, while more recent local reporting described the pending allegation as attempted rape.
After reviewing the third case, prosecutors agreed to pursue charges connected to the Lake Hefner incident and said they would also reconsider the two Scissortail Park cases. Prosecutors asked that Asare’s bond be increased from $50,000 to $75,000, and he remained in custody as of the latest available jail records.
A review of court records found Asare’s name in at least 18 Oklahoma County dockets since January 2023, including probable-cause proceedings, misdemeanor cases and a civil lawsuit, with some dockets stemming from the same arrest. Asare has at least seven misdemeanor convictions: three for breaking and entering and one each for resisting an officer, shoplifting, trespassing and marijuana possession. He received 45 days in jail for an October 2025 breaking-and-entering case and 30 days for another case earlier this year, receiving credit for time already served in both.
The allegations connected to his three August arrests have not yet been proven in court.
