Meet the Candidates for St. Tammany Parish Sheriff
As qualifying continues, four candidates are seeking to become the next Sheriff of St. Tammany Parish. Each brings a different background and leadership style to the race. Here’s a look at the candidates and their law enforcement experience.
🔹 Daniel Seuzeneau
Daniel Seuzeneau has dedicated more than 20 years to the Slidell Police Department, where he has served in a wide variety of assignments and leadership positions. Throughout his career, he has worked in patrol, criminal investigations, administration, budgeting, public information, and executive leadership. He also served as Interim Chief of Police, leading the department during a period of transition.
Supporters point to Seuzeneau’s decades of service to the people of St. Tammany Parish and his deep understanding of the community. Having spent virtually his entire law enforcement career serving local residents, he has built relationships with community leaders, first responders, and citizens across the parish. His campaign focuses on leadership, accountability, transparency, and continuing to build strong partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
🔹 David Maki
David Maki is a veteran law enforcement officer with decades of experience serving St. Tammany Parish. During his career, he has held assignments in patrol, investigations, and supervisory roles, giving him experience in both day-to-day policing and leadership.
Maki says his campaign is built around public safety, supporting deputies, and using his years of law enforcement experience to lead the Sheriff’s Office. He has emphasized his commitment to serving the citizens of St. Tammany Parish and his vision for the future of the agency.
🔹 Scott Illing
Scott Illing is a retired United States Marshal whose law enforcement career spans decades at the federal level. His experience includes fugitive investigations, judicial security, witness protection, and working alongside local, state, and federal agencies on complex criminal investigations.
Illing’s campaign highlights his experience leading high-profile investigations and managing large law enforcement operations. He has said his priorities include accountability, public safety, and bringing his federal leadership experience to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
🔹 Col. Robert Hodges
Robert Hodges is the former Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, where he led the state’s premier law enforcement agency. During his career with State Police, he rose through the ranks while serving in numerous command positions before ultimately being appointed Superintendent.
As Superintendent, Hodges oversaw statewide law enforcement operations, emergency response efforts, and hundreds of commissioned personnel. His campaign emphasizes executive leadership, organizational management, and his experience leading one of Louisiana’s largest law enforcement agencies.
