Delinquent St. Tammany Property Tax List to Be Published Ahead of July 29 Tax Lien Auction

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced that its annual list of properties with unpaid 2025 property taxes will be published in the July 15 edition of The St. Tammany Farmer and posted online ahead of this year’s tax lien auction.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, approximately 2,000 properties across St. Tammany Parish and the municipalities of Slidell, Mandeville, Covington, Pearl River, Abita Springs, and Madisonville still have delinquent taxes and/or related fees owed. The online list will be updated regularly as payments are received.

Property tax bills for the 2025 tax year were mailed in November 2025, with delinquent notices sent to property owners in February 2026.

This year’s online tax lien auction is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. Interested bidders must register in advance through the auction platform. Registration opens July 1 and closes at noon on July 22.

Officials noted that Louisiana’s tax lien auction laws changed significantly on January 1, 2026. Anyone planning to participate is encouraged to review the updated laws and thoroughly research any property before bidding.

Property owners who are behind on their taxes are urged to make payment by noon on July 28 to allow time for the payment to be processed and for the property to be removed from the delinquent list before the auction begins.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the auction is not a sale of the property itself. Instead, successful bidders purchase the tax lien, which represents the unpaid taxes, fees, interest, and collection costs owed on the property.

Property owners whose tax liens are sold will still have three years to satisfy the lien by paying the required redemption amount. Those funds are then used to reimburse the tax lien certificate holder.
