Lafayette Man Arrested on 10 Counts Involving Child Sexual Abuse Material Under Age 13
A Lafayette man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation involving state and federal authorities.
According to Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office, 26-year-old Bryan Giovanny Torres of Lafayette was arrested on June 11 and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on 10 counts of Child Sexual Abuse Material involving children under the age of 13.
Officials say the investigation began after a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The case was investigated jointly by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations.
Authorities allege Torres possessed child sexual abuse material involving victims under the age of 13. He was charged with 10 felony counts under Louisiana law.
Court records indicate Torres’ bond was set at $75,000.
Investigators say the case remains active and additional information could be released as the investigation continues.
The arrest is the latest in a series of child exploitation investigations conducted by state and federal agencies working to identify and prosecute individuals accused of crimes involving children.
All persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
