Pearl River Man Sentenced to Life for 2023 Slidell Beach Stabbing
A violent attack at the Slidell Municipal Beach has now ended with a life sentence in court.
A Pearl River man, Joshua Michael Delaughter, has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of attempted second degree murder earlier this year.
The case goes back to August 2023 at the beach on Carr Drive. What started as a minor disagreement involving vehicles quickly escalated. Investigators say the victim approached and tapped on the man’s car, which led to a sudden and violent confrontation.
Authorities say Delaughter got out of the vehicle and stabbed the victim multiple times, hitting critical areas. The victim survived, but the injuries were severe.
Because of his prior criminal history, prosecutors used Louisiana’s habitual offender law. That classification required the court to impose a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
What began as a small moment turned into a brutal act, and now it ends with a permanent consequence.
