A 33-year-old man from Pioneer, Louisiana, has been arrested on 510 criminal counts involving alleged sexual offenses against children, including 10 counts of first-degree rape.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced the arrest Wednesday, October 21, following an investigation involving the West Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Authorities reported the following charges:
According to investigators, the case involves allegations of sexual abuse against at least two children younger than eight years old.
The investigation began with assistance from state investigators on September 29. Authorities subsequently obtained an arrest warrant and located the suspect at a hotel in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he was taken into custody September 30.
He was initially booked into the Forrest County Jail before being extradited to the West Carroll Parish Correctional Center in Louisiana.
Attorney General Murrill credited West Carroll Parish Sheriff Scott Mathews, the Hattiesburg Police Department, and her office’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit for their work in the case.
No bond had been set as of Wednesday’s announcement. The investigation remains ongoing.
The charges are allegations, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
