SLIDELL, La. — Three women were arrested Monday, October 19, following a narcotics investigation at a Slidell-area residence where several children were present, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began earlier this month when STPSO narcotics detectives began investigating 35-year-old Ashlyn George, who was suspected of distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl in the presence of her 3-year-old child. Slidell Police Department detectives assisted in the investigation.
On October 19, detectives obtained arrest warrants for George and a search warrant for her residence in the 5500 block of Grand Springs Road.
When investigators arrived, they found George, 24-year-old Olivia Barrentine of Covington, 27-year-old Morgan Clay of Mandeville and several juveniles inside the home.
According to STPSO, detectives seized approximately 45 grams of methamphetamine, 30 grams of marijuana, more than 6 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 14 grams of synthetic marijuana, fentanyl, Adderall, 27 Suboxone strips, cash and assorted drug paraphernalia.
George faces multiple felony charges, including distribution of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute several controlled substances, two counts of cruelty to juveniles, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Barrentine and Clay were each charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three women were booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
Child Taken Into State Custody
Due to concerns about the welfare of George’s 3-year-old child, detectives contacted the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. The agency responded and took custody of the child.
Other juveniles found at the residence were released to their respective guardians.
The arrests followed a joint investigation involving the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and Slidell Police Department.
All charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
