Air Force Veteran’s Death Prompts Congressional Request for FBI Investigation

A member of Congress is asking the FBI to investigate the death of a former Air Force intelligence official who reportedly claimed to have knowledge of secretive U.S. government programs.
Matthew James Sullivan, 39, a Bronze Star recipient, was found dead at his home in Falls Church, Virginia. The Northern Virginia medical examiner’s office ruled the cause of death an accidental mixed-toxicity overdose involving alcohol, alprazolam (Xanax), cyclobenzaprine and imipramine.
According to a UFO-focused social media account, Sullivan had worked with the National Security Agency and the National Air and Space Intelligence Center and was said to be preparing to testify about alleged U.S. programs involving retrieved unidentified aircraft. Those specific claims have not been independently confirmed through official military records or government sources.
U.S. Rep. Eric Burlison sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel calling the circumstances of Sullivan’s death suspicious and requesting a full investigation. “Mr. Sullivan’s death was a local Virginia medical examiner case, and the manner and circumstances of his death raise substantial questions,” Burlison wrote. The FBI has acknowledged reviewing the case alongside other federal agencies and local police.
No evidence of foul play has been publicly confirmed at this time.
