Alabama Woman Accused of Killing Husband Because He “Wouldn’t Stop Annoying Her”

An Alabama woman has been charged with murder after investigators say she fatally shot her husband because she had become irritated with him while recovering from heart surgery.

According to authorities, 65 year old Sheri Mitchell-Clutts called 911 Sunday evening from the couple’s home in Russellville, Alabama. Deputies arrived to find 69 year old Timothy Clutts dead in a recliner from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators say Mitchell-Clutts later admitted she had become frustrated because her husband repeatedly checked on her following her surgery and “wouldn’t stop bothering her.”

Authorities allege she retrieved a firearm expecting another interaction with him. When he did not come back into the room, investigators say she walked into another part of the home and shot him while he sat in his recliner.

The couple had reportedly been married for around 15 years. Officials say they have not uncovered a significant history of domestic violence calls tied to the home.

Mitchell-Clutts was arrested and booked into jail on a murder charge.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
