Dozens of Animals Found Living in Unsafe Conditions at St. Bernard Parish Property

A St. Bernard Parish woman was arrested after authorities discovered dozens of animals allegedly living in dangerous and unhealthy conditions at a residence in the 1700 block of Robert Drive.
According to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, investigators executed a search warrant at the property on May 18 as part of an animal cruelty investigation. Deputies reported finding approximately 47 dogs on the property, along with chickens, parrots, ferrets, horses and a pony. Authorities said 37 of the dogs were located inside the home, while 10 others were outside.
Sheriff James Pohlmann said investigators observed what they described as severe neglect and cruelty involving multiple animals. Veterinarians who responded to the scene reportedly determined several of the animals were suffering from serious health issues and were considered to be in immediate danger.
As of Tuesday, officials said 14 dogs, five horses and one pony had already been removed from the property. Authorities stated additional animals may also be relocated as the investigation continues.
Tina Bernard was arrested and booked on one count of aggravated cruelty to animals. Officials said she was taken into custody without incident.
