FBI, Slidell Police Execute Search Warrant At Slidell Duplex After Volatile Materials Found
SLIDELL, La. — A large law enforcement response is underway in Slidell after the FBI and the Slidell Police Department executed a federal search warrant at a duplex Wednesday morning where investigators discovered volatile materials.
According to the FBI, the search warrant was executed around 6 a.m. in the 3100 block of City Drive. The investigation stemmed from a tip provided by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.
During the search, agents located what the FBI described as “volatile materials” inside the residence. The duplex was evacuated, and one person has been taken into custody and is cooperating with investigators.
The residence is located near Abney Elementary School. School officials were notified while FBI bomb technicians worked to render the scene safe. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted with the operation.
Multiple agencies remain on scene, including the Slidell Police Department, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1, and Acadian Ambulance.
Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area until the investigation is complete and the scene has been declared safe.
