Former Houma Christian Coach Arrested on Five Counts of Second Degree Rape
HOUMA, La. A former Houma Christian School coach has been arrested after authorities say an investigation uncovered an alleged sexual relationship involving a juvenile who was his former student.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 25 year old Zachariah Jerry Trujillo of Houma.
Deputies began investigating Thursday after responding to a residence on the east side of Houma regarding allegations of inappropriate sexual contact between a juvenile and an adult.
Investigators learned that Trujillo had previously served as the juvenile’s coach. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Trujillo was brought in for questioning and made statements acknowledging that he had been involved in a sexual relationship with the juvenile.
Trujillo was arrested and booked on five counts of second degree rape. His bond was set at $1 million.
Houma Christian School said Trujillo’s employment was terminated this past spring for reasons unrelated to the current investigation. School officials said they had no knowledge or suspicion of the alleged conduct at the time his employment ended.
The investigation remains active, and authorities are asking anyone with information about the case or potentially related conduct to contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
