ICE Agent Opens Fire During Warrant Operation In DeRidder
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent fired at least two shots during a federal warrant operation in DeRidder after authorities say a pickup truck nearly struck an officer.
The incident unfolded near the intersection of Stewart Street and Ken Williams Street, where federal agents were conducting an enforcement operation. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire as law enforcement personnel attempted to carry out the warrant.
According to information released by authorities, a black and gray Ford F-150 became involved in an encounter with agents during the operation. Investigators believe the truck nearly hit an ICE agent, prompting the agent to discharge a firearm.
Following the incident, several individuals reportedly fled from the vehicle on foot. Law enforcement officers secured the area and began processing the scene as part of the investigation.
The pickup truck was later removed from the area and appeared to show damage consistent with at least one gunshot. Investigators spent hours gathering evidence and documenting the scene.
Officials have released few details regarding the warrant that agents were attempting to serve or the identities of the individuals involved. Authorities have also not announced whether any arrests were made in connection with the incident.
No injuries have been reported, and federal authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting.
