JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — A nine year veteran of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has been fired and arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend.
According to JPSO, 34 year old Kyle Nugent was arrested Tuesday after investigators determined he allegedly committed domestic abuse battery against his girlfriend Monday night at an apartment complex in Jefferson Parish.
Investigators also allege Nugent was involved in a hit and run in the apartment complex parking lot while operating a marked JPSO vehicle.
Nugent was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation of a vehicle, hit and run driving, and domestic abuse battery involving strangulation.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office terminated Nugent following the incident.
Nugent is being held without bond pending a Gwen’s Law hearing scheduled for Thursday, September 3. The hearing is required before bail can be set in certain Louisiana cases involving alleged domestic violence or other violent offenses against a family member or dating partner.
