New Mexico Neuroscientist Ingrid Coleen Lane Still Missing Two Years After Vanishing In Jemez Mountains

A chilling mystery out of New Mexico is drawing renewed national attention after the disappearance of neuroscientist Ingrid Coleen Lane, whose damaged vehicle was discovered abandoned deep in the mountains with circumstances still unexplained more than two years later.

Lane, 37, of Albuquerque, vanished around October 15, 2023, after visiting the Bodhi Manda Zen Center in Jemez Springs in the rugged Jemez Mountains of New Mexico. Investigators later located her black 2019 Subaru Impreza on Forest Road 144, but there was no sign of Lane herself.

According to reports, the rear hatch window of the vehicle had been shattered, with a rock found inside, and an unused burner phone was recovered from the scene. Search dogs were reportedly unable to establish a scent trail leading away from the vehicle.

The case has attracted growing public interest because of Lane’s professional background. She worked as a neuroscientist and bioengineer for the Mind Research Network at the University of New Mexico, an organization involved in advanced neuroimaging and mental health research.

Her last confirmed sighting reportedly occurred when two hunters encountered her along a remote dirt road after her vehicle became damaged. The hunters allegedly offered assistance and a ride back toward the highway. According to reports, Lane declined help and allegedly told them she was determined to hike to the top of a mountain.

Since then, no confirmed trace of her has ever been found. Authorities have not publicly confirmed any foul play in the case.

As of today, Ingrid Coleen Lane remains missing.
