Police Pursuit Ends in Officer-Involved Shooting Near Treasure Bay Casino

A police pursuit that began in Gulfport ended Wednesday afternoon in Biloxi with an officer-involved shooting near Treasure Bay Casino on Highway 90.

According to authorities, Gulfport Police were pursuing a suspect driving a U-Haul truck when the chase crossed into Biloxi. Officers with the Biloxi Police Department joined the pursuit as it continued through the city.

The chase came to an end after the driver pulled into the boat dock area near Treasure Bay Casino. Police say a shootout then occurred between the suspect and responding officers.

Officials have not released the identity or condition of the suspect, nor have they provided details about what prompted the pursuit.

As with all officer-involved shootings, the incident remains under investigation. Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
