Search Intensifies For Missing Mississippi Teen Last Seen On Horn Island
A large-scale search is underway for an 18-year-old Mississippi man who disappeared while visiting Horn Island over the Fourth of July weekend.
Authorities say Nolan Xavier Wells, of Ocean Springs, was last seen around 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. Investigators believe he was on the island with friends and was reportedly spending time with a young woman before he vanished.
Multiple agencies have joined the search effort, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, and the United Cajun Navy. Search teams continue focusing on the area where Wells was last known to be.
Wells is described as being 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue swim trunks, sunglasses, and no shirt. Officials have also confirmed that his cellphone has been recovered and returned to his family.
Investigators are asking anyone who was on Horn Island on July 4, traveled through the surrounding waters, or may have seen Wells or given him a ride to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities say even the smallest piece of information could help establish his movements before he disappeared.
The search remains active as family members, volunteers, and law enforcement continue working to bring Nolan home.
