Slidell Woman Indicted for Alleged Theft of More Than $25,000 in State Benefits
District Attorney Collin Sims announced that a St. Tammany Parish Grand Jury has indicted a 39 year old Slidell woman in connection with an alleged fraud scheme involving state assistance benefits.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Keyoka Motley was indicted on one count of theft valued at $25,000 or more. Investigators allege the activity occurred between August 1, 2022 and June 30, 2025.
Authorities say the case involves allegations that income was deliberately understated in order to obtain SNAP benefits from the State of Louisiana. Prosecutors allege the total amount involved exceeded $25,000.
The investigation was conducted by the Louisiana Department of Health Fraud and Recovery Unit. Chief of Criminal Division Doug Freese reportedly presented the case to the grand jury on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office.
Motley is expected to appear in the 22nd Judicial District Court for formal arraignment proceedings at a later date.
District Attorney Collin Sims stated that no additional comments will be made at this time due to the matter remaining active and ongoing.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
