St. Tammany Opens Sandbag Pickup Locations Ahead of Tropical Storm Bertha

Share your love

With Tropical Storm Bertha expected to impact southeast Louisiana, St. Tammany Parish is opening multiple self-service sandbag locations beginning at 12 p.m. Monday, July 20, to help residents prepare for possible heavy rainfall and localized flooding.

Residents can pick up sandbags at the following locations:

• Airport Road Public Works Barn – 34783 Grantham College Drive, Slidell

• Keller Barn – 63131 Fish Hatchery Road, Lacombe

• St. Tammany Parish Government Complex – 21410 Koop Drive, Mandeville

• St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds – 1301 N. Florida Street, Covington

• Fritchie Public Works Barn – 63119 LA 1090, Pearl River

Officials are asking residents to bring their own shovel to fill sandbags. Assistance is available for those who are unable to fill their own by calling (985) 898-2557.

If you live in an area that has experienced flooding in the past, parish officials encourage preparing now rather than waiting until weather conditions begin to deteriorate.

The Rabbit Hole will continue providing updates on Tropical Storm Bertha, including watches, warnings, road closures, and any significant changes to the forecast as they become available.
