Pearl River Couple Arrested After Drug Investigation Reveals Neglected Animals and Unsafe Living Conditions for Children

An anonymous tip regarding alleged drug activity in the Pearl River area led to the arrest of two residents and the removal of multiple animals and children from a local home.

On May 19, detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit responded to a residence in the 64000 block of Highway 3081 after receiving information about suspected drug sales and activity at the property.

During the investigation, detectives reportedly located and seized marijuana believed to be intended for distribution. Authorities also discovered nine dogs and five cats that appeared to be neglected, along with two young children living in what investigators described as conditions unfit for children.

The St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services and the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services were contacted and responded to the scene. Animal Control took custody of all 14 animals, while DCFS was notified regarding the welfare of the children.

Authorities arrested the two adult residents of the home, identified as 32-year-old Kassi Kandice King and 31-year-old Jeanluc Maser Saucier.

Both were booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:

• Two counts of Cruelty to Juveniles

• Two counts of Second Degree Cruelty to Juveniles

• Fourteen counts of Animal Cruelty

• Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana

• Two counts of Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Juvenile

In addition to the above charges, King was also booked on a charge of Contempt of Court.

The investigation remains ongoing.
