Pearl River Mansion Boxing Events Raise Community Concern

A series of organized boxing events being held at a large private residence in Pearl River is raising concerns among some residents about the property’s use, traffic, parking and compliance with parish regulations.

The events, promoted as “Fights at the Mansion,” have been advertised at 62126 Military Road in Pearl River. Promotional materials show multiple boxing events at the property, including adult fights as well as youth boxing matches involving children.

The events have been promoted to the public with paid admission, ringside seating and registration for fighters. At least one professional boxing event at the location is documented by the Louisiana State Athletic Commission.

Promotional materials have also advertised a VIP room rental inside the mansion featuring a kitchen, bar and bed.

According to documents reviewed by The Rabbit Hole, St. Tammany Parish has issued two separate cease and desist notices related to activity at the property.

The property was originally developed as a multimillion dollar private residence. Its use for organized, publicly advertised events has raised questions among some nearby residents about traffic, parking, noise and whether the activities are permitted under the property’s residential use.

Questions have also been raised about alcohol licensing. Under the circumstances, including the residential nature of the property and the two cease and desist notices, it appears the property does not hold a liquor license.

The existence of cease and desist notices also does not by itself establish that the property owner or event organizers have committed a criminal offense. Questions remain about exactly what activities the parish ordered to stop, what permits or approvals have been obtained and whether events held or advertised afterward complied with parish requirements.
