Former Pearl River Police Officer Mike Alquist Arrested Over Alleged Body Camera Leak
A source has confirmed to The Rabbit Hole News that former Pearl River Police Officer Mike Alquist was arrested Tuesday on a charge of injuring public records.
The arrest is reportedly connected to allegations that Alquist leaked body camera footage to another individual, who later made the footage public.
Despite the name of the charge, “injuring public records” does not necessarily mean physically damaging or destroying a document. Under Louisiana law, the offense can involve intentionally concealing, removing, altering, destroying or otherwise improperly handling certain public records. Because government records, including certain law enforcement records, are protected by state law, alleged unauthorized actions involving those records can result in criminal charges and arrest.
The Rabbit Hole News has reached out to law enforcement seeking additional information regarding the arrest and the circumstances surrounding the alleged release of the footage.
This is a developing story. The Rabbit Hole News will provide additional information as it becomes available.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
