New Orleans Man Arrested In Child Sexual Abuse Material Investigation
Agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation have arrested a 26 year old New Orleans man following an investigation into the alleged distribution of child sexual abuse material through an online messaging application.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the investigation began after a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Investigators identified the account holder as Darrin Jackson Mahler, of Music Street in New Orleans. On May 15, special agents executed a search warrant at the residence, where Mahler was taken into custody without incident.
He was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on the following charges:
2 counts of child sexual abuse material involving children under the age of thirteen
4 counts of sexual abuse of an animal
Officials say the arrest was made through the Orleans Metro ICAC Task Force, with assistance from New Orleans Police, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Kenner Police.
Bond had not been set at the time of the release.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
