No, Trump’s Portrait Isn’t Replacing Franklin on the $100 Bill — Here’s What’s Actually Changing

Viral images showing a redesigned $100 bill with Donald Trump’s portrait have been circulating online, sparking confusion and debate. But the images are not official U.S. currency.

U.S. currency does go through periodic updates.

Benjamin Franklin remains on the $100 bill, and there has been no approved redesign removing him from U.S. currency.

What is changing is the signature: the Treasury Department announced on March 26, 2026 that newly printed currency will carry President Trump’s signature.
