Unusual Earthquake Detected in Gulf, Hundreds of Miles from Louisiana Coast

An unusual earthquake was recorded in the Gulf of Mexico, raising eyebrows after seismic activity was detected far offshore from Louisiana.

According to reports, the quake occurred hundreds of miles from the Louisiana coastline and was relatively small in magnitude, meaning most people along the Gulf Coast likely didn’t feel anything.

While earthquakes aren’t common in this region, they’re not impossible. Experts say minor seismic activity can happen due to shifting sediments and fault movement beneath the Gulf floor.

Because the quake happened underwater, there have been no reports of damage or injuries, and officials say there is no tsunami threat.
