Saints Rally In Fourth Quarter To Beat Ravens 24 To 17

The New Orleans Saints picked up their first victory of the 2026 season Sunday, storming back in the fourth quarter to defeat the Baltimore Ravens 24 to 17 at M&T Bank Stadium.

New Orleans entered the final quarter trailing 17 to 9 after Baltimore controlled much of the first three quarters. The Saints offense had managed three Daniel Carlson field goals but had yet to reach the end zone.

That changed quickly in the fourth.

With 9:47 remaining, quarterback Tyler Shough connected with Chris Olave for a 21 yard touchdown that pulled New Orleans within two points. Travis Etienne Jr. then ran in the two point conversion, tying the game at 17.

The Saints defense kept Baltimore from answering, giving Shough and the offense an opportunity to complete the comeback.

New Orleans took advantage.

With 1:32 remaining, Shough pushed across the goal line on a one yard quarterback run. The play was reviewed to determine whether Shough had broken the plane, and the ruling was upheld. Carlson added the extra point to give the Saints their first lead of the afternoon at 24 to 17.

Baltimore still had time to respond, and Lamar Jackson moved the Ravens into New Orleans territory during the final minute.

But with 20 seconds remaining, Jackson attempted a deep pass that was intercepted by Saints safety Julian Blackmon near the New Orleans goal line. The turnover ended Baltimore’s comeback attempt and allowed Shough to kneel out the clock.

Shough finished the afternoon completing 27 of 34 passes for 252 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He also added 23 rushing yards and scored the game winning touchdown.

Olave led New Orleans with eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. Juwan Johnson caught four passes for 66 yards, while Devaughn Vele added five receptions for 64 yards.

The Saints had difficulty establishing their rushing attack against Baltimore. Etienne carried eight times for 25 yards, while Alvin Kamara finished with 15 yards on nine attempts. Shough added 23 yards on nine carries.

Baltimore opened the scoring late in the first quarter when Derrick Henry punched in a one yard touchdown run. The Ravens extended their lead before halftime when Jackson found Rashod Bateman for a 22 yard touchdown.

New Orleans stayed within striking distance behind Carlson, who connected on field goals from 23, 47 and 51 yards.

Baltimore added a 49 yard field goal in the third quarter to take a 17 to 9 advantage before the Saints took control of the game in the fourth.

Jackson finished 21 of 31 for 235 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Henry rushed 16 times for 68 yards and a touchdown, while Bateman caught seven passes for 88 yards and a score.

Baltimore actually finished with more total offense, 312 yards compared to New Orleans with 298, but the Saints protected the football and won the turnover battle. New Orleans did not turn the ball over, while Baltimore’s only turnover came at the worst possible moment on Blackmon’s game sealing interception.

The victory gives New Orleans a much different ending than its season opener, when the Saints rallied from a 21 point deficit against Detroit before ultimately falling 31 to 30 in overtime.

This time, they finished the comeback.

The Saints improve to 1 and 1 and will return home next Sunday, September 27, to face the Las Vegas Raiders.
