BREAKING: Gunshots reported near the White House Saturday evening as Secret Service agents rushed members of the media and staff into secure areas. The White House was briefly placed on lockdown while authorities responded to the scene.

Multiple reporters on the White House grounds said they heard what sounded like “dozens of gunshots” near the North Lawn shortly before 6:30 PM Eastern. Journalists described Secret Service agents yelling “shots fired” and ordering everyone to run inside the press briefing room.

At this time, it remains unclear exactly where the gunfire came from or whether anyone was injured. President Trump was reportedly inside the White House during the incident.

The situation comes just weeks after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner that forced the evacuation of Trump, JD Vance, and members of the administration.
