Destrehan Woman Accused of Striking St. Tammany Deputy with Vehicle During Arrest

A 26-year-old Destrehan woman has been arrested after authorities say she struck a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputy with a vehicle while attempting to flee Sunday night near Slidell.

According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 100 block of Windward Passage after receiving reports of an intoxicated woman attempting to leave a residence in a vehicle.

As a responding deputy attempted to remove Savanna Magee from the vehicle, investigators say she shifted into reverse, striking the deputy before fleeing the scene.

A brief pursuit ended near the intersection of Oak Harbor Boulevard and Oak Court, where authorities say Magee continued to resist before she was taken into custody.

Magee is facing charges of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Unauthorized Use of a Movable, Simple Battery, Resisting Arrest, and Driving While Impaired.

The injured deputy was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation as a precaution.

The incident remains under investigation.
