Homeowner Shot During Overnight Burglary In New Orleans East

A homeowner was shot earlier this week when two men broke into his home in New Orleans East, according to police.

The break in happened in the 7500 block of Trapier Avenue. Police say the men entered the home and shot the homeowner before running off.

EMS took the victim to a hospital. His condition has not been released.

The New Orleans Police Department has not said whether the men knew the victim or how they got into the home. No arrests have been announced.

Investigators are treating the case as aggravated burglary with aggravated battery by shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact NOPD’s Seventh District detectives or Crimestoppers.
