Jackson County Deputy Killed in Line of Duty While Responding to Disturbance

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its own after Deputy Michael Jimerson was killed in the line of duty late Tuesday night.
According to an official press release, deputies were dispatched around 11 p.m. on April 1 to a reported disturbance at an apartment complex in St. Martin, Mississippi. When they arrived, an exchange of gunfire occurred involving a female individual at the scene. Authorities say the suspect was pronounced dead at the location.
Deputy Jimerson was transported to a hospital following the incident, where he later died from his injuries. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is now handling the case.
Jimerson began his service with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve deputy in 2010 before being officially hired in 2014. He worked in the Patrol Division and was known among colleagues and the community for his professionalism, dedication, and compassion.
The Sheriff’s Office described him as a valued member of their law enforcement family and a trusted friend to many. His death has sent shockwaves through the department and the community he served.
Officials are asking the public to keep Deputy Jimerson’s family, friends, and fellow deputies in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
