Clancy Holdout Juror Shares Newborn Photos, Fund Tops $350K

The lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial is sharing a more personal side of his life as public attention around him continues to grow, releasing photographs of himself holding his daughter as a newborn while a fundraiser created to support him has now surpassed $350,000.

Michael P. Desronvil was the only member of the 12 person jury who was unwilling to find Clancy not criminally responsible for the deaths of her three young children. The other 11 jurors were prepared to reach that conclusion based on her mental state at the time of the killings, but Desronvil disagreed. The jury remained deadlocked, leading to a mistrial on September 4.

Since then, Desronvil has largely remained out of the public eye, but his legal team has released photographs showing him with his own daughter when she was a newborn. One of the images reportedly shows Desronvil holding her on the day she was born.

The photos have drawn additional attention because of the deeply emotional nature of the Clancy case, which centered around the deaths of three young children. Desronvil, himself a father, has become one of the most closely watched figures connected to the trial after refusing to join the other 11 jurors.

Desronvil has also begun publicly defending his decision. Several jurors spoke out following the mistrial and criticized his position during deliberations, while Desronvil has disputed parts of their accounts and maintained that he believed the evidence showed Clancy understood what she was doing.

The case centers around the January 2023 deaths of Clancy’s three children, 5 year old Cora, 3 year old Dawson and 8 month old Callan. There was little dispute at trial over whether Clancy killed the children. The central issue was whether she could be held criminally responsible for her actions at the time.

Clancy’s defense argued that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and experiencing delusions that prevented her from understanding the criminal nature of her actions. Prosecutors argued that her actions showed planning and awareness.

After weeks of testimony and seven days of deliberations, the jury remained split 11 to 1. Because a unanimous decision was required, the judge declared a mistrial.

Following the trial, Desronvil’s identity became public and his attorney said he began facing threats, harassment and doxxing. His legal team has said he has since been staying in a secure, undisclosed location.

Supporters responded by donating to an online fundraiser created to help him with expenses related to the aftermath of the trial. Organizers said the money is intended to help with security, legal expenses and lost income.

The fundraiser quickly climbed into the hundreds of thousands of dollars and has now passed $350,000.

The criminal case against Clancy remains unresolved following the mistrial. Prosecutors have not yet publicly announced whether they will attempt to try the case again.

For now, Desronvil remains at the center of the controversy surrounding the case, with the newly released photos of him holding his newborn daughter adding a personal element to a story that has already drawn national attention.
