Louisiana Moves Toward Eliminating Vehicle Inspection Stickers
A proposal backed by Jeff Landry to eliminate Louisiana’s vehicle inspection sticker requirement is gaining traction after passing through the House Transportation Committee without objection.
The move aims to remove what state leaders are calling a long-standing inconvenience for drivers across Louisiana. Supporters argue that eliminating inspection stickers would save residents time and money while reducing unnecessary regulation.
If approved by the full legislature, the change would end the requirement for routine safety inspections tied to windshield stickers, a system that has been in place for decades.
The proposal is still in the early stages of the legislative process, meaning additional approvals are required before it becomes law. However, the smooth committee passage signals strong initial support and increases the likelihood that the measure could move forward.
For now, Louisiana drivers are still required to maintain valid inspection stickers until any final decision is made.
