New Orleans Man Facing Child Exploitation Charges After Traveling To Meet Who He Believed Was A Minor

A New Orleans man is facing multiple child exploitation related charges after Louisiana State Police say he traveled to what he believed was a meeting with a juvenile before being taken into custody.

According to Louisiana State Police, investigators with the Special Victims Unit and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office launched an investigation into alleged online activity involving child exploitation. During the investigation, authorities say the suspect, identified as Nelson, communicated online and later traveled to a predetermined meeting location expecting to meet a minor.

Troopers say investigators arrested Nelson upon his arrival at the meeting location. Authorities also reportedly recovered electronic devices and additional evidence connected to the investigation.

The suspect was booked on multiple felony charges related to child exploitation and attempted offenses involving a juvenile. State Police say the investigation remains active and additional charges could be possible as digital evidence continues to be analyzed.

Louisiana State Police continue urging parents to monitor online activity and remind the public that online predators frequently use social media platforms, messaging apps, and gaming services to target children.
