Northshore Woman Sentenced to 25 Years in Lacombe Killing After Pleading Guilty

A 23 year old Northshore woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for her role in the 2023 killing of Juwarren Martin in Lacombe.

Megan Ayanna Coleman pleaded guilty to manslaughter and obstruction of justice in connection with the case. Authorities said the violence stemmed from an earlier altercation involving Martin’s sister at a tobacco store in Abita Springs, and prosecutors say Coleman later drove co-defendant Marrio Haynes Jr. to a gas station in Lacombe where Martin was found. Investigators said Haynes got out with an AR style rifle and shot Martin from behind, while Coleman waited in the vehicle and later helped him get away and avoid capture.

According to the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office, the case was built through an extensive investigation by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office with help from the U.S. Marshals Service. Coleman’s sentencing comes after Haynes was convicted in January 2026 and later sentenced to life in prison plus 60 more years. During the sentencing, family members spoke about the pain Martin’s death caused and the lasting impact it has had on their lives. Judge Vincent Lobello called the crime tragic and said it showed how a few terrible decisions can permanently change many lives.
