Puppy Trapped In Recliner Gets Happy Ending Thanks To Slidell Firefighters

A routine day turned into an unusual rescue call when firefighters with St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 responded to help a puppy that had become stuck inside a recliner.

According to the department, the more the puppy moved, the more distressed she became, leaving her family unable to free her safely. Firefighters arrived on scene and carefully disassembled the recliner piece by piece to avoid injuring the animal or damaging the furniture.

The rescue was successful, and the puppy was freed without any injuries. Officials said the recliner also escaped the incident without damage.

Photos shared by the department show the grateful family posing with firefighters and the now-safe pup following the rescue.

“Animals are part of the family,” the department wrote in a social media post. “That’s why we always go the extra mile.”

While firefighters are best known for responding to fires and medical emergencies, situations like this highlight the wide range of calls crews handle every day. This time, it wasn’t a house that needed saving, it was a family pet.

And judging by the photos, the puppy appears to be doing just fine after her unexpected encounter with the recliner.
