Slidell Man Arrested On Hundreds Of Child Sexual Abuse Material And Animal Sex Abuse Charges
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — A 66-year-old Slidell man has been arrested following an investigation into allegations involving child sexual abuse material and sexual abuse of animals.
According to authorities, the investigation began after the Special Victims Unit Task Force for the 22nd Judicial District received a cyber tip from the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office. The tip alleged that an individual within the district was possessing and sharing child sexual abuse material online.
Investigators identified the suspect as David Dansereau and obtained an arrest warrant for his residence. Members of the Special Victims Unit Task Force, along with the Covington Police Department, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Bureau of Investigations, and the Department of Homeland Security, participated in the operation.
During a forensic examination of electronic devices seized during the investigation, authorities reported finding evidence of child sexual abuse material involving children younger than 13 years old. Investigators also stated that Dansereau admitted to possessing the illegal material.
Dansereau was arrested and booked on the following charges:
• 500 felony counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material involving victims under the age of 13
• 50 felony counts of Sexual Abuse of an Animal
If convicted, he could face prison sentences ranging from 10 to 40 years per count.
Law enforcement officials said the arrest demonstrates that individuals who engage in online exploitation crimes can still be identified and prosecuted despite attempting to hide behind the anonymity of the internet.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as authorities continue their work.
