Washington Parish Registered Sex Offender Arrested on 50 Child Sexual Abuse Material Charges
The 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced the arrest of a Washington Parish man following a cybertip that investigators say led to the discovery of child sexual abuse material.
According to District Attorney Collin Sims, the Special Victims Unit Task Force received a cybertip from the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office on Thursday, June 25, involving an individual suspected of possessing and sharing child sexual abuse material within the 22nd Judicial District.
Investigators identified the suspect as 38-year-old Cory Dillon of Bogalusa. Authorities say Dillon is a registered sex offender.
The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Covington Police Department, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Bogalusa Police Department, Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Homeland Security.
Dillon was arrested as a fugitive from Washington Parish and will be extradited back to the parish, where he is expected to be booked on 50 counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material Involving Victims Under the Age of 13.
If convicted, each count carries a potential prison sentence of 10 to 40 years, meaning the total sentence could be substantial if convictions are obtained and sentences are imposed.
District Attorney Collin Sims said protecting children remains one of his office’s highest priorities, adding that the coordinated effort by local, state, and federal agencies demonstrates that those who exploit children online or in person will be aggressively investigated and prosecuted.
Covington Police Chief Michael Ferrell also praised the joint investigation, saying crimes involving children often cross jurisdictional lines and require close cooperation between agencies to identify suspects and protect potential victims.
The investigation remains ongoing.
