Slidell Man Sentenced to Nearly 10 Years in Federal Prison in Child Exploitation Case
A 30-year-old Slidell man has been sentenced to 118 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to receiving child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Jonathan Suarez was also ordered to serve eight years of supervised release after prison, register as a sex offender, pay a $100 special assessment, and pay $42,000 in restitution to victims.
Federal investigators said the case began in early 2024 when the FBI looked into online payments made in exchange for illegal exploitation material involving children. Authorities said Suarez sent or attempted to send money through Cash App on at least six occasions between February and August of 2023.
During a search warrant executed at his residence on April 10, 2025, agents seized an iPhone 13 Pro Max. A forensic review reportedly uncovered at least 186 images and 853 videos depicting the abuse of children. Investigators said some videos were more than 49 minutes long, and some victims were as young as two years old.
Officials also stated the material had been organized into approximately 145 custom folders with names describing the contents.
The case was prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative focused on combating child exploitation crimes online.
